Michael Gilmartin


Michael Gilmartin has been a wood sculpturer and furniture maker for 22 years, the last 20 of which have been in Atlanta, GA. His art furniture graces many homes and offices throughout the U.S., Europe, South America and Japan. The "Gilmartin Rocker" is in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum in New York City, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA and his companion chair, the Avos Armchair is in the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC. Some of his work is now touring the Southeast in a 3-year traveling exhibition, "Celebrating the Creative Spirit", which will visit six musems, before ending in 2001.

Mr. Gilmartin is the recipient of many national awards,
the most recent being the prestigious "Adex"
for design excellence.

His work has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, the Noble Times Register, Wood Shop News, Maxim, Departures, The Design Journal, and Fine Furniture International. Pictures of his work are also used as illustrations in the new edition of
McGraw Hill text book "Psychology".
