Armoire (1977) 30 x 84 x 24 Walnut, Brazilian Rosewood
This armoire has three stackable modules in
Black Walnut. The front panels of book-matched Brazilian Rosewood
over Italian Bending Poplar are vacuum-formed into a cupped
"S" shaped curve which is both concave and convex. The
inner drawers are self closing, made of Baltic Birch and lined
with leather. The top module, a sweater chest, is lined in
leather and Canadian Aromatic Ceder. When the mirror-lined doors
of the middle unit open, a light goes on. In 1978 the armoire
won
"Best in Show" at the Lincoln Center Festival of the
Arts in New York City.
